Team Milram sends sprinters to Qatar
Dortmund: 30/01/2009

Team MILRAM is sending its sprinters to the Tour of Qatar (February 1-6/UCI 2.1). The desert race will see the debut of the new sprinting train, led by MILRAM newcomer Robert Förster. In addition to the 31 year-old, Directeur Sportif Christian Henn will look to three more newcomers, Thomas Fothen, Servais Knaven and Peter Wrolich, as well as Artur Gajek, Dominik Roels, Björn Schröder and Niki Terpstra.
“We set the basis on Mallorca with some special training for the sprinters,”
Christian Henn said.
“Our goal is to bring in some good results. First our riders have to find their places in the team, since so many of them are new. Qatar is an outstanding season opener and if everything goes well, then Robert Förster can bring in a very good position in the final overall.”
An extensive interview with Christian Henn on this theme can be found on www.team-milram.com “A major adjustment for us northern Europeans”
Sprinting newcomer Robert Förster, who last Tuesday celebrated his 31st birthday, is looking forward to the 2009 season start.
“It’s finally starting. The preparations went fine, I wasn’t sick and could do all my training. We’ll have to see how it goes in the first race of the season,”
Förster said before his third start in the Tour of Qatar.
This is the eighth time that the Emirate on the Persian Gulf has held its Tour. The flat profile over six stages and a total of 687 kilometers is perfect for sprinters. The sprint festival will open on Sunday, February 1, with a six kilometer long team time trial in Doha.
