Santini GIT LPOW Shorts Front

The Santini GIT CX LPOW shorts feels much more expensive on first touch than the £ 62.99 price tag would indicate. I have always used the same system for when I test a pair of shorts for the first time, no washing (i.e. straight out of the packaging) and no chamois crème (which I normally use). I try to get out on the local roads that I know so well, this avoids any distractions and allows me to concentrate on how the shorts are performing.

So to the ride. Sizing is, compared to other Italian brands, on the large size, which in practice means that if you are a medium you will be in a pair of Santini shorts (but use the size guide as a help). The length of the leg is cut just right, neither being too short (think old photo’s of Sean Yates) or too long (think Lance Armstrong). The bib itself offers the right combination between support and stretch in the straps. Now to what for many is the most important part of the shorts, the chamois.

Santini GIT LPOW Shorts Rear

Santini were one of the first companies to use Gel in a multi density pad. This offers the best combination between pad bulk and comfort. Unlike a traditional chamois it requires zero break in time. The forgotten bit of the short is the quality of the Lycra. The weight of the fabric influences both the longevity and how well the muscles are supported while riding. For the price of the short the balance is excellent, offering good stretch and support.

All in all the GIT CX LPOW short is excellent. The price is a steal as it could easily pass for a more expensive product. With all of these things in mind the short should provide a long and comfortable use of service.
