Here at Wiggle Towers, we thought our lovely loyal Bloggle readers might enjoy taking a closer look at some of our most popular dhb products. This way, you can find out just that little bit more about certain items before deciding whether to buy them. After much debate and head scratching, we’ve decided to call this regular stunt ‘dhb Tuesday’, mainly because it will always feature our award-winning dhb products and…err…it’ll always be posted on a Tuesday. See what we did there? So, to kick things off we have two reviews – the dhb Finchdean Ladies Bib Shorts and the dhb Compression Tights…
dhb Finchdean Ladies Bib Shorts
Until fairly recently it was almost impossible to find a pair of female specific bib shorts without paying a fortune for them. No problem, I hear you say, you get what you pay for…But the welcome arrival of these bibs has upset all that – because you get what you pay for and then some. With these Finchdean Ladies Bibs, dhb has combined top notch comfort, performance and value. And that’s not just a cheesy line written for a review: having ridden far too many miles in both these and pairs which cost double the price, these are every inch as comfortable.
That’s not surprising, though. The Finchdean range is all about comfort and performance and these bibs don’t disappoint on either score. As soon as you pull them on it’s hard not to feel and look the part. They offer a close but comfortable fit, with mesh panels under the arms and on the back to keep you cool when the pace hots up. All seams are flatlock stitched which makes a huge difference if you’re out for hours on end when things can start rubbing and chafing. The material they’re made from feels good too, it’s soft and smooth on the skin and wicks sweat away faster than you can say ‘Does my bum look big in these?’ (BTW, the answer is always ‘yes’ in bib shorts, I’m afraid. Even these). The leg grippers keep the shorts in place and prevent them from riding up while the pad…Well, the pad, that’s a whole new paragraph…
Although it has a name which sounds ridiculous – the Silver Dry Coolmax Pad is its full title – it does live up to its wordiness and will bring you home time and time again without so much as a hint of saddle soreness. Having previously tried to get by in blokes’ bib shorts and almost not lived to tell the tale, it is certainly worth investing in a pair of female specific ones. They’ve been designed to suit our bits rather than blokes’ bits, so keep you comfortable in the saddle mile after mile. An absolute godsend.

For those not in the know about compression clothing, it is designed for training and recovery with the theory being that the tight-fitting gear provides support to the muscles and helps increase blood flow both during and after exercise to expedite the recovery process. Some people are great believers and swear by it, while others are more cynical.
Regardless of which camp you fall into, if you wear a pair of tights after a hard ride, run or race and believe they might have a positive effect on your recovery, the chances are they will – even if it’s just psychologically. Yet with some compression clothing costing in the £60-£70 price bracket, it certainly doesn’t come cheap. The dhb Compression Tights have changed all that, though. At just £29.99, they are almost half the price of similar products yet still offer outstanding comfort.
Getting them on can prove entertaining – for you and any spectators, as the sizes come up quite small (you’ve been warned!). Once on, they feel lightweight and comfortable and can be worn during exercise or post-exercise. They can even be worn underneath a pair of jeans comfortably if you’re keen to keep reaping the recovery benefits but don’t want to go to the pub in a pair of tights! For £30 a pair, it’s almost crazy not to see if they work wonders for you.
