On 1st August 2009 hundreds of ardent runners will line up at Catton Park, near Tamworth for the race of their lives. Thunder Run 24hr, in association with Runner’s World, is a brand new and unique challenge, the UK’s first 24 hour long team off-road running race.
Catton Park is the perfect stage for this ground breaking event. Situated in the heart of the country, with excellent transport links, the venue boasts both a brilliant course and facilities. The 10K route has already proven its worth at the Thunder Run 10K races over the past two years. The specially designed course weaves its way through the undulating grounds of picturesque Catton Park, taking in a few sharp climbs and slalom sections through the woods delivering a tough, yet interesting and enjoyable route suitable for this ground breaking event. The entire course will be well marked and marshalled for your safety.
In order to make your rest periods, whilst other members of you team are out running on course, as relaxing and rejuvenating as possible we will be providing first class facilities for the duration of the weekend. Trackside camping is free, as is spectator entry and they will be a crew of masseurs on hand soothe hundreds of tired legs and to work out those knots working for discretionary donations only. There will be blocks of flushing toilets and hot showers as well as an experienced event caterer to get you refuelled ready for your next stint. Digital timing will be taken care of by Championchip and once the sun goes down the arena will be floodlit. Finally, when the dust settles at the end of the weekend every single competitor will receive a quality memento, so you can show it off and brag about what you’ve achieved to everyone you see the next week!
