Wiggle.co.uk, the UK’s number one online bike shop, is now selling the K-Edge Chain Catcher, an innovative and intelligent device which prevents your chain from dropping off the chainring. Designed to help Kristin Armstrong win Olympic gold in the women’s time trial at last summer’s Games, it did exactly that and is now available for all cyclists to take advantage of.

The handy device fixes to your front derailleur mount and spacers and mounting hardware are supplied to ensure it fits different bikes and groupsets. Not only is it ideal for anyone wishing to keep their chain in place, it also improves shifting performance and protects your frame from damage caused by a derailed chain.

It is made from 6061 T1 aluminium and for the weight watchers among you, it hits the scales at a svelte 10g, which isn’t much for the peace of mind it brings. It is available in several anodised colours including gunmetal, red, blue, black and gold. Although it is currently only suitable for road bikes, the K-Edge crew are working on solutions for mountain bikes, cross bikes and single speeds.

The set which comes supplied with the Chain Catcher covers the majority of frame and front derailleur configurations, although in some instances you may require the Hard to Fit Kit (HFK) which is also available at Wiggle.
