This week’s dhb Tuesday review is one for the ladies as we take a peek at the dhb Finchdean Ladies Cycling Jersey.
dhb Finchdean Ladies Cycling Jersey
If you’re the sort of girl who likes to wear bike kit and still look and feel like a chick, then this Finchdean jersey is most definitely for you. It fits well – no, it fits brilliantly – showing off the female figure with a sleek design and flattering cut which will leave you wondering why (and how) so many bike clothing companies get women’s kit so wrong.
It’s made from the latest generation Meryl fabric which does all it says it should: it’s breathable, lightweight and wicks sweat away from your body when you’re working hard. Perhaps most noticeably, the fabric feels super soft against your skin and ranks very highly on the comfort scale.
The high collar gives this jersey a real performance edge and adds to its classic good looks, but where it really comes into its own is with the full-length zip. This is a feature rarely found on women’s bike jerseys (do manufacturers fear we’re going to unzip it too far and flash cleavage causing pile-ups in the pack?!) and is a most welcome find. When climbing, it’s great to be able to pull the zip to mid-chest and feel the air flow through. After riding in this jersey then using one without a full-length zip, you’ll definitely miss it.
You might, however, get a little peeved with the pockets. There are two rear pockets which share one zip and although they are easily roomy enough for all your riding clutter, the zip can be a little awkward to undo while on the move. Of course, this could just be me having ‘special’ moments mid-ride and there are obviously ways around it, so don’t let this minor issue affect what is most definitely one of the best looking and most comfortable women’s jerseys out there. And at £33, you’ll wonder how the Wiggle folk do it…
