Keep Warm With Wiggle.
They say there’s no such thing as bad weather if you have the right gear – and here at Wiggle we have everything to keep you wrapped up all toasty, warm and dry this autumn and winter.
When the weather takes a turn for the worse, maintaining your normal training or commuting is never easy, but having the best gear makes it far more manageable. There’s nothing worse than being caught in a storm wishing you’d invested in a better jacket, warmer bib tights or waterproof overshoes. We’ve created a head-to-toe riding checklist – suitable for all budgets – to ensure you’re properly kitted out come rain or shine.

Jacket – If you’re after something lightweight to pack into your jersey pocket when the weather looks unpredictable, then the Fox Vapor Waterproof Jacket is perfect. You’ll forget it’s there if the rain stays away, but should you need a waterproof layer it’s just the ticket.
Obviously as winter draws closer, your choice of cycling jacket will need to be robust. Investing in a good winter jacket which is both waterproof and warm is always wise. Although some top-end apparel might seem expensive, it usually pays dividends in the end when it protects you from the elements time and again. The dhb eVENT Waterproof Cycling Jacket is lightweight, breathable and won’t let you down whatever the weather. Popular with commuters and competitive cyclists alike, the dhb Amberley Waterproof Cycling Jacket also offers unbeatable value and boasts features found on jackets twice its price.

dhb Merston Tights are also popular, having won several product tests in recent years, largely because they offer great features at affordable prices. They’re available in hi viz, padded or unpadded versions.
Base layers – You need to ensure you wear base layers which are breathable and wick moisture away from your body to keep you from feeling cold as you sweat. Check out the Craft Zero Extreme Long Sleeve Base Layer and the Helly Hansen Stripe Crew Base Layer (as well as the ladies version here).
Overshoes – Keeping your feet warm and dry is essential if you’re going to enjoy your ride. As summer turns to autumn, selecting the right gear to ride in often means second guessing the weather. If you’d rather not rely on Michael Fish and co, then why not go for a pair of these Castelli Pioggia 2 Shoe-covers. The water resistant and windproof shoe-cover is ideal for those days when it might rain. Equally, if it stays dry, it’s no big deal – you’ll still look the part wearing kit worn by the Cervelo Test Team. On days when the weather isn’t so kind, opt for an overshoe which is highly durable and will protect you from the worst weather. Overshoes made from Windtex or neoprene are ideal for this and be sure to combine them with a hardy winter sock such as Sealskinz or DeFeet Woolie Boolies.
Gloves – Don’t let the cold get to your fingers, pull on a pair of these Sugoi Firewalls. The dhb Amberleys are also a popular choice with their waterproof membrane and extended cuffs.
And don’t go forgetting…
Keep your head warm with a dhb Merston skull cap. On the coldest of days a dhb buff around your neck will keep the wind out. A pair of glasses will prevent wind, rain, snow and sleet getting in your eyes and, last but by no means least, don’t forget a tub of chamois cream to help ensure you stay comfy in the saddle mile after mile.
Keep warm, keep dry and keep on riding!
