“The Vuelta 2010 this year started in the South of Spain traversing through AndalucÃa for the first week of the race. Leigh and I were lucky enough to be able to get to see stage 4 from Malaga to Jean on the road and get to the start of Stage 5 in Guadix. The Vuelta has a reputation for being far more relaxed than the two other big European Tours and this certainly seemed to be the case with access to the team enclosure at the stage 5 start very open and chilled out.
This allowed us to get a good look at the team cars, buses and bikes. Riders were also milling about and chatting with team mates and fellow pros enjoying the hot sunny weather before setting off just gone Midday. If you ever have the chance to get down to Spain for the Vuelta it really is worth a visit to soak up quite a unique atmosphere.
Below is a little slide show from both stages giving a feel for the race from the side of the road and at the stage start. “
