Wiggle shortlisted for Oracle Retail Week Awards 2011
Wiggle has been shortlisted for three titles in the prestigious Oracle Retail Week Awards 2011. The online bike and triathlon retailer is in the running for Non Store Retailer of the Year, Growing Retailer of the Year and Product Innovation of the Year (for Verenti, its new range of sportive bikes). The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on March 17 next year, which takes place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in the heart of London’s Mayfair.
With the likes of Ocado, Amazon and Asos shortlisted in the Non Store Retailer of the Year award and Boots, Waitrose, Asda, Tesco and The Conran Shop vying for the title of Product Innovation of the Year, Wiggle is proving it is a force to be reckoned with in the UK retail sector.
Martin Talbot, director of marketing at Wiggle, said:
“We are delighted to have been shortlisted for these three awards. This is one of the biggest events in the retail calendar and the fact Wiggle is in the final alongside the industry’s elite says a lot about our phenomenal growth and hard work in the past year.”
Tim Danaher, editor of Retail Week, said: “
The quality of entries this year has been extraordinary, as you can see from our list of finalists. More than 1500 people from across the UK are expected to join us for this prestigious evening which celebrates those leading the way in retail innovation.”
Wiggle is quickly growing accustomed to glitzy award ceremonies, having won the Cross Border e-Retail title at the e-Commerce Awards for Excellence in October as well as BikeBiz’s Online Retailer of the Year for the second year running. In the summer, Experian Hitwise UK named Wiggle as Britain’s most visited bike website for the first half of 2010, a title it has enjoyed every year since 2006. Wiggle was also ranked fourth overall in the sport and fitness retail industry sector. And the accolades don’t stop there: for six years running Wiggle has won Best Mail Order Company in 220 Triathlon Magazine’s awards.
