The Year Ahead

The Year Ahead

2011 is going to be another busy year. I spent alot of 2010 on the road working at Wiggle events and providing race support to the team wiggle athletes. It was an amazing year and the feedback from the public and the riders was superb. I even had the chance to go to Australia with Matt Page for the world solo 24hour champs which proved to be the toughest, most emotional race support I have ever done.

Working alongside the riders and fellow wiggle staff at the events and races has been a great experience. When you spend so much tine travelling together it feels more and more like a family atmosphere, and I have already made some lifetime friendships with staff and riders.

For 2011 I will again be present at as many Wiggle events as I can providing technical support and helping with the organisation and set up. I will also be supporting top Elite XC rider Lee Williams, Elite XC rider and 24hour solo specialist Matt Page, our road race specialist Ben Simmons and other team wiggle athletes. All of the team riders are a great bunch to work with and I feel I have created strong bonds between myself and the rider’s as well as their families. This makes the job a lot easier as I know what the riders want from their bikes and support during the races. It’s a rewarding job for me no matter what the result as these guys really appreciate the help.

I will also be riding myself as a team Wiggle sponsored staff rider mainly riding crits but also cross country and hopefully more enduro events, including plans to do a 12hr solo later in the year?! This is my second year as a sponsored staff rider and the other team members are a great bunch to ride with, everyone is really supportive and encouraging.

I am looking forward to the year ahead and I have already worked at wiggle events and provided race support this year and am still enjoying it. I will be hoping to put more race support related blogs up this year including an in depth account of what is involved in providing 24hour solo race support as well as what goes on at a National race support weekend. I will be working hard in the Wiggle workshop providing our customers with their shiny new bikes and will also shortly be completing my level 3 Cytech mechanics course.

Well that’s me done for now, feel free to come and have a chat if you see me at any of the events or races I’m attending, you can also follow my tweets from the pits @bennj84. Happy trailblazing
