WIGGLE DRAGON RIDE PRESS RELEASE
3 May 2011
75 extra places available for Wiggle Dragon Ride, sign up quick!
Seventy five additional places have been released for the sell-out Wiggle Dragon Ride, which will see 4000 cyclists take to the South Wales roads on 5 June. Such was the demand to take part that all of the originally released places sold out in 22 hours in December.
The additional places are all for the 200km Gran Fondo ride. However, riders can opt to cut the route shorter and do the 130km Medio Fondo event when they reach the summit of the Bwlch following the first ascent.
The route for 2011 takes riders from Pencoed towards Cowbridge and then along the stunning coastal roads around Southerndown and Ogmore Vale before heading to Port Talbot to start a 14mile long climb to the top of the Bwlch. Ascents of the Rhigos, Crynant and Cimla follow, before another ascent of the Bwlch.
The route will be challenging, with long climbs to conquer, but gradients are relatively kind at 10% – making this akin to a European sportive event, and ideal preparation for the Etape events in France this summer.
The Prostate Cancer Charity is the official charity of the event. Riders are encouraged to visit the partners page of the Wiggle Dragon Ride website if they would like to help raise money to support the 35,000 men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year in the UK. See http://www.wiggledragonride.com/partners.php for more information.
To enter the Wiggle Dragon Ride, please visit http://www.wiggledragonride.com from 8am tomorrow, Wednesday 4 May. Places are expected to be in high demand, so please visit as early as possible to avoid disappointment!
