I was feeling ill, and the last round of the British Downhill Series was
the next weekend. I was undecided whether to race the South East
Championships at Aston Hill. I decided to try and race and I am glad I
did.
I took Saturday easy only doing five runs of the twisty track, but I
still had really good fun riding with friends. On Sunday I did two
practice runs just tweaking little parts of the track. I went up for
my first race run feeling relaxed and just wanting to have fun in my
race run. It seemed to pay off as my run went really well. I tried to
go slower into corners and come out the other side faster instead of
just going flat out everywhere. I finished my first run in 3rd which I
was really happy with. It the started to rain and the rain got heavier
and heavier until there was a stream running down the track. I wasn’t
feeling 100 per cent so I decided not to get soaked and risk getting
ill again (I knew I couldn’t improve on my dry time). No-one went
quicker in the second run so I finished 3rd out of 24. I am happy with
that.
This is another, I think, awesome video Chris Pleass made at Hindhead. Thanks Chris
Cheers
