Well firstly I would like to apologise for my lack of activity on the Wiggle Blog. I have been really busy working for Welsh Cycling over the past few months which means I haven’t had much time on my bike. The road and criterium racing season has now come to an end so I thought I would bring you up to speed with my racing exploits.

As you may know I am a regular at the Castle Combe Circuit Race Series and this year I managed to score points in almost every round I entered. This put me in 5th position overall in the series, which I was quite pleased about considering I did not compete in all the rounds and there are some big teams competing for the points.

For the last 3 years I have travelled up North to Beverley in Yorkshire for the National Criterium Championships and the East Yorkshire Classic Premier Road Race. There was a top class field of riders entered for both races so was preparing for a tough weekend of racing.

The National Crit Champs didn’t go well for me after I got caught up behind a crash about a third in to the race and then failed to make contact with the super fast peleton. The East Yorkshire Classic was slightly better than the crit for me because I actually finished the race. However this race is always extremely tough and this year seemed to be the hardest so far. The pace was extremely high from the start and even on the punishing climbs the pace never seemed to ease. This caused the peleton to fragment rapidly leaving me to finish in what I would of called the main bunch.

I will be back again next year for the Yorkshire double as it’s a great weekend away with some of the toughest bike racing the UK has to offer!
