After a fantastic April, it’s time for the Wiggle events team to welcome May! So where is this month going to take us?
5th – 6th Pro Velo 2012 Wiggle Enduro 6
Based at Catton Park in Staffordshire, Wiggle Enduro 6 gives riders the best of both worlds – speed and endurance! First-up there’s fast-paced time trial action on Saturday night. Participants will have to pedal out 6 laps of the Enduro 6 course in the shortest time possible. As a solo event, it’s one where you can get your head down and propel yourself to glory. Then on Sunday we have the headline event itself as entrants will either go it alone, or work in pairs to complete as many laps of the 6 mile course as is possible in 6 hours. Plus (as if that wasn’t enough of a challenge) it’s also a parc ferme event. So it’s literally just you, your bike and whatever you took into your enclosure at the beginning – no additions to kit are allowed!
Camping is free all weekend too so you can bring the whole family along as a cheerleading squad ;)
13th Wiggle Super Series Jurassic Beast
It’s off to Bovington on the Jurassic Coast for the first of May’s Wiggle Super Series events. Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove, Poole Harbour… it’s all in there! There’s a fair bit of climbing involved so it’s fantastic for get the legs pumped. Plus the views at the top make every single push worth it!
16th Castle Triathlon Evening Series
It’s the first of the Castle Triathlon Evening Series events on Wednesday 16th May. It’s a great way to keep the adrenaline ticking over until you can do your weekend warrior bit! Located at the stunning Hever Castle, it’s perfect to shake off the office cobwebs. If you can’t make this one then fear not – there are a further three between now and September :)
20th Wiggle Super Series Ups & Downs Sportive
Having been rained off in late April (quote – ‘extreme weather conditions’… would have become a swim event!) it’s time to crack on with the Wiggle Super Series Ups & Downs Sportive. One for stronger riders, the Wiggle Super Series Ups & Downs Sportive does what it says on the tin – there’s plenty of undulating terrain to keep quads and calves working hard!
20th Kilo to Go Wiggle Wild Edric
With a reputation as ‘Little Swizerland’, this area has an excellent range of relief. From long straights to tight corners, steady inclines and sharp descents… the route will definitely see you earning your Toblerone ;) There have been some changes made this year but the best bits are still in there!
27th Wiggle Super Series Bournemouth Sportive
Good things come in threes and it’s definitely true for this event! Starting in Christchurch, you’ll follow a route that takes in parts of three counties – Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset. This sportive takes you through some of the most stunning scenery on the south coast, complete with Dorset’s highest point of Bulbarrow.
27th Kilo to Go Wiggle Tour of the Peak
It’s another great weekend for Wiggle sportive fans as we have a choice of two rides for the weekend of the 27th! Next up is the Kilo to Go Wiggle Tour of the Peak. It’s time to load up the car, bundle in the bike and head to Chapel-en-le-Frith in Derbyshire. This event used to take place later in the year but this time it’s all about the Peak District’s luscious greenery in some fine spring air.
