You are not a runner until you have completed the Needles XC Half Marathon!

As I was running, climbing and falling yesterday morning I was trying to think of some adjectives to describe my experience of the Needles CX Half Marathon. I came up with:
Hot, sticky, dusty, demanding, surprising, beautiful, breathtaking and highly rewarding!

I have run easier marathons, to be honest with you all. This was one of the most challenging courses I have run in my ten years of running but it was by far the most rewarding . I fully recommend this for anyone looking to get off the roads and take on something slightly different. You use different muscle groups – climbing cliff paths, running shingle and sand and then across fields of lush grass. Book up for next year as soon as you can, this one is a must but be warned… you do need to hill train and you do need to be mentally prepared as this is not one for faint hearted.
My new best friends have to be my dhb Triple Lens Sunglasses.
I have always run without glasses but purchased these following a recommendation to try and stop headaches caused by the glare of the sun during early evening runs. I cannot speak highly enough about these glasses. They are amazingly lightweight and do a superb job. They also look good, aren’t clumpy and you get THREE lenses! If you are looking for some shades do have a look at these, they are also a very good price at under £30.
The next challenge is the South Downs Half Marathon. Fingers crossed my legs feel a little bit better over the next few days so I can get a few more hills in before June 9th. If you are taking part in this one, look out for me in my normal ‘Wiggle’ running gear.

You’re glasses looked amazing, and whilst I love my Tifosi ones, yours were far more comfortable (and stylish) dare I say! It is an amzing course on my Island-home, but as you say, a hot day with killer hills, is not for a the faint hearted. Good luck for the South Downs Half!
