Last weekend Wiggle Mountain Mayhem 2012 finally arrived. After 12 months of waiting, cyclists were chomping at the bit, hungry to release  their energy on the weekend’s extravaganza!

The lead-up to this fantastic summer event had been spent looking forwards to luscious green fields and catching some zzz’s in between rides whilst basking in the golden sunshine… Error.

After loads of rain the location was a ‘little’ muddy. Owner and organiser of the event, Patrick Adams said that “several major events in the UK were cancelled because of the weather… We took the decision that more [people] would be disappointed if we cancelled than if we didn’t.”

Plus Mayhem folk are a hardy bunch and it takes much more that a little bit of mud (ahem) to put them off. Heck, it was just a perfect opportunity to test out some new ideas for Mayhem 2013… time to introduce an annual extreme mud-sliding championships?! In true Mayhem fashion everybody got involved – all heights, skill levels and ages. There was even a birthday with a Mayhem cake! Does something so orange count as one of your 5 a day?! This event is all about making everybody feel part of the action so it’s a case of making it easy for spectators to get up close to watch, even if it calls for tiptoes! The weekend lived up to its reputation of being super fun, providing oodles of merriment and great surges of pride when it came to wearing the Wiggle Mountain Mayhem medal – “I survived!” should probably have been engraved on the back… The weekend was rammed full with successes and Team Wiggle had a reason to celebrate when Matt Page took the the podium to take 3rd place in the mixed event. Matt was part of Wiggle Exposure with Josh Ibbett, Rich Rothwell and Rickie Cotter. You can view results online. From Wiggle to all of our awesome Mayhem fans, thank you. You made 2012 an absolute pleasure :)
