With many of the office taking the hit of winter flu that has been going around, training took a bit of a knock during the week while I partook in the annual cold season. However, with some serious quantities of oranges consumed and coats worn 24/7 by the time the weekend rolled around it was high time to get some easy miles in.. This was made all the more exciting as it was the weekend of Wiggle Super Series Rough Ride!
Helping out the team before the grand départ was a great chance to meet many of the riders attending and also have a good catch up with the Wiggle events crew. It also gave a nice bit of recovery time to refuel before heading back home on the South Downs Way to top up some much needed mileage in the legs.
The weather really picked up throughout the day and, although a little windy, the trails on and around the SDW seem really dry at the minute – dare I say dusty in places? Propped up by a pretty long road ride (with a few rather rapid Wiggle mechanics) the weekend has been a good one, with a solid nine hours in the bag.
Really great to see a lot of kids getting on the bikes too for a ride – not sure I could have ridden the hilly terrain they were storming up at the weekend at that age!
For now the riding continues as targets slowly creep closer, and the sun continues to show its face on occasion! Enjoy the lack of rain while it lasts and see you at an event soon!
