Wiggle celebrates double win at the prestigious Total Women’s Cycling Awards!

By: Tim Wiggins

Last night staged the inaugural Total Women’s Cycling Awards held at the London Bike Show. Hosted by Anthony McCrossan and Anna Glowinski. Wiggle came away with some great results…

The TWC Awards were created to give female cyclists a voice and to celebrate the stars of women’s cycling; the people, companies and innovations that have helped make it such an exciting year.

Total Women’s Cycling website itself is a hugely well respected and powerful voice in the rapidly growing world of women’s cycling. The website and its readers continue to challenge the industry to take women’s cycling seriously.

There were 16 categories in the Awards which covered everything from bike and clothing brands, to places and people. Every category was completely open (rather than a short-list) which means that the results really ARE the voice of women’s cycling today.

Wiggle was delighted to win the Online Retailer of the Year category. There were serious contenders in the category, and Wiggle was therefore very pleased to be chosen in front of 200 key players in women’s cycling!

Wiggle has a huge range of female specific cycling kit including apparel, shoes, bikes, bags and everything else you can think of, with Guides to make selecting the right kit for you easier. The fast-paced Blog also features a wide variety of female contributors at every level who add their personal advice and experiences into the mix.

Last night’s awards were also a double celebration, as Wiggle Honda’s Women’s Pro Cycling Team picked up three great awards. The team took home ‘Women’s Cycling Team of the Year Award’, as well as double Olympic champion Laura Trott being named ‘Pro-rider of the Year’ and ‘Women’s Cycling Personality of the Year’.

The Wiggle Honda team had a superb first year in 2013; with wins at a number of high profile events such as the Ride London GP. Laura Trott’s personal success demonstrates the positive outlook and results of the whole team; as team manager Rochelle Gilmore highlighted “Laura is a perfect role model for young aspiring athletes; she is a very giving, grateful, bubbly, relaxed… talented women.” Wiggle is very proud to be working alongside such a great team of athletes.
